Today marks “Tax Freedom Day” in New York State. That’s the day according to the non-partisan Tax Foundation when New Yorkers on average have finally earned enough since January 1 to pay our total tax bill for the year.
This includes Federal and State income taxes, Social Security taxes, sales taxes, property taxes and all the other ways our various layers of government reach into your pocket every year.
You probably won’t be surprised to learn that New York ranks highest in taxes out of all 50 states.
But your local Republican committee is working hard to turn that around:
- Our elected officials and advocates have have fought to keep the Bedford Town budget under the Tax Cap every year it’s been in effect.
- We’ve supported County Executive Rob Astorino in his efforts to lower our tax burden — a promise to “end the tax madness” he has kept since taking office 4 years ago.
- Through our partnership with good government groups like Best4NY and StopAlbany, we’re fighting to end the unfunded mandates that put undue pressure on our schools and other local taxing districts.
- And of course, every year we work hard to elect smart, qualified candidates at all levels of government who will be our allies in our efforts to keep taxes low.
But we can’t do it without your help! Please click here to make a much-needed contribution to our committee now.
Every political movement starts right here at home. Our effect is felt from our Town government, all the way up to Albany and DC. The greatest impact you can have is to support your local Republican Party. Please give today and give generously so that we can continue to fight on behalf of our hard-working Katonah, Bedford and Bedford Hills communities.
Thank you.
