ALBANY – New Yorkers have until Friday to register to vote if they want to participate in this fall’s elections.

Those seeking to vote for the Nov. 5 general election can sign up online, in person at local boards of elections and at most state agency offices or via a mail-in form. Online registration can be completed until midnight and any forms being mailed in need to be postmarked by midnight.

Voter registration forms can be downloaded at and the forms are available at government offices, public libraries and post offices. Online voter registration, which is possible for New Yorkers with a state driver’s license, non-driver ID card or learners permit, is available at

Early voting will begin on Oct. 26, with counties offering a limited number of polling sites where voters can cast their ballots before Election Day. The League of Women Voters of New York has an online portal with relevant information.
